I have worked in two different career streams. After a few years in IT, first as a programmer, then as an ERP system consultant, I decided to move into the CFO-stream. I am now working in the Netherlands for Philips Lighting, number 1 in just about every market it is present, as a Financial Controller. I have just received my third assignment since coming to Europe, and I am now controller for two "Supply Groups", which are groups of factories and Chinese sourcing operations.

My career tips? Know what you want, know what you need to do to build credibility, find an employer where the culture emphasises a long term committment to people, and be consistent in your communication about your personal goals.
