Random openoffice tip of the day. I'm using HeidiSQL under wine as an mysql client. Heidi can copy a query output to the clipboard in a few formats, which I'm then pasting into openoffice.org calc for some ad-hoc data sharing. I was copying from Heidi using the CSV option, which requires a couple of steps to define delimiters, and then after that calc seems to treat the input as text, making no attempt to recognise dates or numbers.
But if you copy from HeidISQL as HTML and paste that into Calc, lo and behold: my header row is recognised and put into bold, my dates are dates and my numbers are numbers. In one click.
